What shipped, and when.

TAKT brings its own engine

TAKT now installs and runs on a Mac that has never had Python on it, verified with the machine's own Python deliberately disabled. Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel. 51MB to download, around 142MB installed.

Built for Intel Macs but not yet verified on Intel hardware.

The engine shuts down with the app

Closing TAKT now closes its engine, including on force quit. Each launch takes a fresh port, and anything left running by an older version gets cleaned up.

Failures say what went wrong

When something breaks, TAKT shows a plain message including the file path, writes a full log, and gives you a button to copy it.

12 August 2026

The project list moved to the standard macOS location

Migrated and verified file by file. If the list is ever missing or damaged, TAKT says so rather than showing an empty screen.

Two interface fixes

The message box keeps its size when you switch to another tab. Pressing Cmd and Enter no longer skips past the build confirmation.

11 August 2026

Work stays inside the project you opened

Plans and file changes now happen in the folder you opened, and nowhere else.

7 July 2026

Open projects are remembered between sessions

Close TAKT and reopen it, and your project tabs come back the way you left them.

A failed build leaves your previous result intact

If a build fails, whatever you already had stays where it was.

Renaming a conversation sticks

A name you set by hand is no longer overwritten automatically.

3 July 2026

Projects open as tabs

Work on more than one project at a time, each with its own conversations and its own history. Closing a tab closes the tab, never the folder.

1 July 2026

A sidebar for conversations

Switch between conversations, start new ones, rename them, delete them.

30 June 2026

Long conversations can be compacted

When a conversation gets long enough to matter, TAKT offers to summarise it and carry on. The full conversation is saved first, before anything is replaced.

The stop button stops

Interrupting a reply now discards it rather than letting it arrive late.

29 June 2026

Plans carry a Yes, build button

A plan arrives as something you read and approve. Nothing is built until you press it.

23 June 2026

Talk to it instead of typing

Voice dictation, inserted at the cursor.

22 June 2026

Different models for thinking and for building

Pick one model to plan with and another to build with, and change either without touching the other.

18 June 2026

Receipts are checked inside the app

A build's receipt is verified against the signing key and the result is shown alongside the build.

11 June 2026

Builds produce a signed record

Every build writes a receipt of what was built, by which model, and when. Signed with an Ed25519 key held in the macOS Keychain, so the record can be checked later and cannot be quietly edited.

It currently identifies the plan by name rather than pinning the plan's exact contents, and there is one signing key rather than one per installation. Both are being worked on.

TAKT is in development. Thirty people get it in October 2026.
