What shipped, and when.
For plain web pages, TAKT opens the page before and after a build and tells you it opens without errors, or that the error was already there before your change. It shows the page loads, not that it looks right or works.
Paste a secret key into the chat and TAKT catches it before sending, marks it, and says why. A key of an unusual shape, pasted on its own, can still get through.
If a plan contains a secret key, the build stops before anything is written. TAKT tells you none of your files changed and removes the key from the saved plan.
Recognises six key formats. Keys from three of TAKT's five providers are not among them.
Press Stop and the build halts before anything is written: "Stopped. Nothing was changed." Stop too late and the build finishes. Either way, the AI provider still charges for the request.
On the first real build this took 12.0 seconds, against 17.3 before.
For changes to existing files. New files are sent whole, and if a change can't be matched exactly, the whole file is sent. The timing is from one build.
It plans what you just asked for, and shows the request once.
After a successful build, TAKT records the decision it made without a popup asking you to approve it. You can undo it from the Decisions panel.

Checks TAKT does not run yet are now marked as not run.
You can now build with an OpenRouter key as well.
Switch away from TAKT and return, and the verification badge checks again, so it never shows an old "plan unchanged".
It checks again when TAKT's window comes back into focus.
Ask for the same change twice and TAKT revises the plan it already made instead of starting a new one.
Signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Open the installer, drag TAKT to Applications, launch it. No warning, no right-click, no security settings to change.
TAKT re-reads the plan a receipt names and compares it. It says the plan matched, the plan differed, or the plan can't be checked. The plan is committed alongside the code it produced, so one commit gives you both. Receipts made before today can't be checked, because the plan they name is gone.
Correction, 8 September 2026: TAKT's verification never reads the repository. It reads the plan from the working folder, and whether the plan reached the commit is not recorded anywhere.
All of them, where before it could read eight. Verifying a receipt and reading one are different jobs, and only the second was missing.
The first message a new person saw said TAKT couldn't reach its engine, when the engine was running and the real problem was a missing API key. A startup failure said something timed out when nothing had. Both now say what actually happened.
Every build used to look like a different app to macOS, so a permission granted once was asked for again and again. Now it is asked for once.
TAKT asks for your AI key when it does not have one, and checks the key with the provider before keeping it. A key the provider refuses is never stored.
An installation that has never run before creates its own signing key the first time it starts. A receipt now says which installation produced it, not just that some copy of TAKT did.
A receipt now records a fingerprint of the plan's contents rather than just its name. TAKT doesn't yet check that fingerprint when it verifies a receipt, so you can check it by hand and TAKT won't warn you if it fails.
A receipt now carries a fingerprint of the receipt that came before it in the same project. Delete one from the middle and the gap shows. TAKT doesn't yet check those links when it verifies, so a break is visible to anyone who looks and won't be reported to you.
If the engine doesn't start within ten seconds, TAKT says so instead of waiting.
The application icon ships.
TAKT now installs and runs on a Mac that has never had Python on it, verified with the machine's own Python deliberately disabled.
Apple Silicon only.
Closing TAKT now closes its engine, including on force quit. Each launch takes a fresh port, and anything left running by an older version gets cleaned up.
When a build or a startup check fails, TAKT shows a plain message with the file path, writes a full log, and gives you a button to copy it.
The message box keeps its size when you switch to another tab. Pressing Cmd and Enter no longer skips past the build confirmation.
Plans and file changes now happen in the folder you opened, and nowhere else.
Close TAKT and reopen it, and your project tabs come back the way you left them.
If a build fails, whatever you already had stays where it was.
A name you set by hand is no longer overwritten automatically.
Work on more than one project at a time, each with its own conversations and its own history. Closing a tab closes the tab, never the folder.
Switch between conversations, start new ones, rename them, delete them.
Interrupting a reply now discards it rather than letting it arrive late.
A plan arrives as something you read and approve. Nothing is built until you press it.

Pick one model to plan with and another to build with, and change either without touching the other.
A build's receipt is verified against the signing key and the result is shown alongside the build.
Every build writes a receipt of what was built and when. Signed with an Ed25519 key held in the macOS Keychain, so the record can be checked later and cannot be quietly edited.
As of June: one signing key, and the plan identified by name. Both have changed since. See 24 August, and the specification.
